Darim's M-Filter Standalone box digitizes input video signal and feeds it through several professional-grade digital filters before outputting it back in analog form for any MPEG encoding device. The set of filters was specially selected and tuned to assist MPEG compression. With video cleaned by M-Filter Standalone the MPEG encoder will be able to allocate more of the precious compressed data bits enhancing picture quality, rather than wasting them on high frequency noise, color distortions, etc. Motion estimation will also benefit from pixels precisely aligned by the onboard Time Base Corrector (TBC).

In addition, the new M-Filter Standalone device has two extra features. One is Component YUV input/output that enables users to use M-Filter Standalone with broadcast studio equipment. The other design highlight is the improved adaptive inter-frame noise reduction filter (Kalman filter) that removes excessive video noise almost like magic without blurring the picture.

M-Filter Standalone needs to be connected to the host PC using the provided RS232 serial cable for initial configuration only. Once all settings are adjusted as needed, it can be disconnected and function as a completely standalone device.
