M-Filter Standalone
Image quality improvement:
- remove noises but conserve object edge (Example 1).
MPEG encoding quality improvement:
- increase compression rate of MPEG for constant quality encoding (Example 2),
- decrease average quantisation scale for constant bit-rate encoding (Example 3),
- increase skipping macroblocks for variable bit-rate encoding to the constant image
(Example 4).

Before M-Filter
This clip was captured using MPEGator from a 7-years
old PAL VHS tape using composite input, no filtering.
Elementary video stream: 352x288, 25 fps,1125 Kbits/sec;.
Duration: 18 sec.size: 2.6 MB |

After M-Filter
The same video source processed with M-Filter (TBC, Median
filter, Low pass filter #2, video padded with blank lines).
Elementary video stream: 352x288, 25 fps, 1125 Kbits/sec;.
Duration: 19 sec, .size: 2.7 MB |
Example 2 : Increase compression rate of MPEG for constant quality encoding
Example 3 : Decrease average quantisation scale for constant bit-rate encoding
Example 4 : Increase skipping macroblocks for variable bit-rate
encoding to the constant image
